Worcester Music Trio Behind Hit Song from New DreamWorks Film

WORCESTER – A trio of Worcester songwriters and producers make up three-quarters of the creativity behind the new single “Beautiful Life” — the title track from the soundtrack of Dreamworks’ latest film, Abominable.

The new song is performed by country music and pop star Bebe Rexha and was co-written by Rexha and Worcester’s own Sam James and Nicholas Black.

David Saint Fleur, also from Worcester, produced “Beautiful Life” for the Abominable soundtrack.

James told ThisWeekinWorcester.com that he met Black — a songwriter and producer with Universal Music Group — and Saint Fleur — who works for Atlantic Records in their Artists & Repertoire [A&R] division — through his and Saint Fleur’s manager Lincoln Bloh, who is also from Worcester.

“It’s always nice to get a win. It’s even nicer when 75% of the people involved in the song basically grew up together — musically — in Worcester,” said James, who recently performed his latest single “Shinedown” on NBC’s singer-songwriter competition series, Songland.

According to James, the song was optioned for the soundtrack a few months ago.

“Beautiful Life” is the lead track of the album and is joined by Coldplay’s hit song “Fix You,” and the Danger Twins “Girl’s Gotta.”
