Governor Charlie Baker has issued an order to activate up to 2,000 members of the Massachusetts National Guard to augment state resources in response to coronavirus.

National Guard members brought into active duty will support various state agencies for equipment, logistics, warehousing, and related duties.

Baker’s office said activating the guard represents a “significant addition of supply chain resources available to the Commonwealth and its residents.”

National Guard units frequently train alongside state and local first responders in Massachusetts and prepare for domestic operations during emergency situations.
