WORCESTER – On July 22, 2018, Emilia Ortiz, 35, of Framingham died in a single-car crash on Johnny Appleseed Lane in Leominster.
On Monday, May 13, the driver of that vehicle will be arraigned on a manslaughter charge in Leominster.

According to a source familiar with the case, the driver — who struck two trees and a fire hydrant in the crash that killed Ortiz — was going 87 mph in a 25 mph zone. He was operating a Nissan Rogue SUV.
The driver — whose name won’t be released until shortly before his arraignment — was interviewed again by police on Thursday and his arraignment date was subsequently scheduled.

According to reports, the crash happened around 10:30 PM on July 22 near 171 Johnny Appleseed Lane.
The driver was treated at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster and was then transferred to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Oritz — who died at the hospital following the crash — was a mother of two and a certified nursing assistant.
