2020 is finally coming to an end! It’s been a challenging year, which gives us even more reason to celebrate the new year. Welcome in 2021 with fun, local events! 

When the ball drops this year, don’t drop the ball on your New Year’s Eve plans. There are plenty of events you can attend this Thursday to stay safe and create lasting memories. Stay in for the evening with exciting virtual events or find entertainment in the city.

Prepare for 2021 with savory meals from restaurants in Worcester, dance parties you can join from your living room, or new traditions that your family can make together. 

 

Get dressed up and dine out this New Year’s Eve!

Make a reservation at Lock 50 this Thursday afternoon for a five-course meal! Enjoy their regular dinner service or wave goodbye to 2020 in style while dining out in their patio igloos. The patio igloos will be serving a fixed price, five course menu that begins with champagne and caviar. There are two seating times available, which are 5 PM and 7:30 PM. Reservations are required and the price is $125 per person. 

To ensure the safety of their guests, Lock 50 will be following the latest state COVID guidelines. 

 

Plan a special date night with deadhorse hill’s dinner special!

deadhorse hill is offering a delicious dinner for two which includes an entree of giant king crab legs paired with scrumptious sides — spinach salad with a red wine vinaigrette, a classic Montreal meat pie, and a terrine of foie gras. Finish the meal with their indulgent butterscotch pudding. The menu is available for preorder and you can add cocktails, too! 

This dinner is takeout only and it costs $199. 

 

The Muse Bar and Kitchen is moving the clocks back for an 80’s themed bash!

Ring in the new year with a virtual 80’s party that will let you boogie all night long. Tickets to the event include admission to the zoom link, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne and glasses, tin of imported Russian caviar, extra large charcuterie and cheese sampler, an 80’sthemed cocktail class with necessary ingredients, and a CD of classic 80’s songs.

Make sure to wear your best 80’s clothes for their costume contest. Winners will receive a free cocktail class of their choice!

 

Take a walk on the wild side as you look for a wild visitor at Tower Hill Botanic Garden!

Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston is holding their Yeti, Set, Go! event, a fun scavenger hunt you will not want to miss! For this event, you can explore the botanic garden’s formal gardens to find all 15 hidden yetis on the premises. Tour the grounds and trails, and you may even spot a life-size, brightly colored yeti!

Pre-purchased tickets are required for this event, and they include access to the gardens, the garden shop, and conservatory greenhouses.  

 

Raise your painted glass this New Year’s Eve!

Treat your whole family to a creative way to welcome the new year at Claytime.

Located at 124 Boston Tpke in Shrewsbury, Claytime will be open from 11 AM to 5 PM this New Year’s Eve. You will be able to choose from a wide selection of pottery, including mugs, vases, bowls, plates, and much more! You can make a reservation for a table or order pottery to go that you can complete at home. 

 

Countdown the new year virtually at Times Square! 

This year, you do not have to travel to New York to join the Times Square New Year’s Eve extravaganza. Tune into VNYE (Virtual New Year’s Eve) at 6 PM for a virtual reality and augmented reality experience that will bring Times Square into your home. With a lineup of famous performers and talented hosts, you will be immersed in the entertainment.

The festivities will last until midnight when the ball drops!

 

Dance away the last hours of 2020!

You don’t have to send off the year on a crowded dance floor. Instead, bring the party into your own home with Awesome Event’s New Year’s Eve 2021 Virtual DJ Dance Party. Celebrate the end of the year with a live DJ Dance party, music trivia, contests, and more.

Get started on your New Year’s resolution early, and spend your New Year’s Eve working up a sweat. Join Nashville Sports League for their New Year’s Eve 5K Virtual Style Event. Register and sign up to run between December 25 to January 3rd. All participants will receive a medal for finishing, a zip pullover, and personalized bib. 

Tickets for the virtual run are $40. You can add a bottle of champagne to your order upon check out, too, to celebrate your hard work and the new year!
