Ollie’s Bargain Outlet to Open on Grafton St. in Worcester

WORCESTER – Long-time Grafton Hill residents surely haven’t forgotten the hay day of South Plaza that featured the likes of Pizza Hut, Radio Shack, and, of course, Building #19.

Although the likes of Radio Shack will never return to the area, and with Pizza Hut now located on the other end of Grafton St., it sounds like the Building #19 opportunity of bargain prices on retail merchandise will return to Grafton Hill in the form of national retail chain, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet.

With more than 330 stores in 23 states across the country, Ollie’s will open its newest location — and its first in Massachusetts — at 867 Grafton St. in the former home of Fallas clothing store in South Plaza.

From housewares, food, clothing, and toys to sporting goods, pet supplies and holiday items, Ollie’s seemingly will offer just about everything a customer is looking for – up to 70% off on closeout and excess inventory on brand-name merchandise.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet was founded in 1982 by Morton Bernstein. The first store was opened in Mechanicsburg, PA, just outside Harrisburg.

A day hasn’t been announced yet for the Ollie’s opening in Worcester.
