His fans asked and Ricky Duran delivered in a big way.
On Monday night’s Top 11 live performances on NBC’s The Voice, Duran rocked a performance of Rod Stewart’s “Downtown Train” at the request of his fans.
He was the final performer on opening night of “Fan Week” and closed it out with a bang. Duran blew the doors off with an electric rendition of Stewart’s 1989 hit single with guitar in hand and The Voice band behind him.

Before Duran took the stage, some local Worcester spots got a shout out including Antonio’s Pizza for putting Duran’s face on their marquee, and Lock50 for naming a drink after Duran called “Sing, Ricky, Sing!” with tequila, soda water and lime.
“Worcester is a blue-collar, working class town. They really respect that someone that came from Worcester is doing something big,” Duran said.
“Ricky has that working man allure about him that Bruce Springsteen had. That John Mellencamp had. Artists that everyone feels like they can relate to him,” Duran’s coach Blake Shelton said.
“Get mad at it. Get ‘Worcester’ on it,” Shelton told Duran when he was having some trouble with Stewart’s high notes on “Downtown Train.”
Family and friends from Worcester were taken live on the show to introduce Duran’s performance.

Once again, Duran earned rave reviews following his performance.
Competition coach John Legend said, “It’s crazy…I forget that you are even a contestant on the show. I feel like you’re past that. You feel like an artist already. The way you carry yourself. Just the level of polish and confidence and stage presence you have, you just look advanced beyond a competition. You look like you should be up here coaching too.
Shelton said, “When I tell you everybody loves you, it’s not just fans and people that I know. Literally, people in the business are reaching out to me about you already. I love that about you. It’s because of life reasons it’s taken you a minute to finally get your chance to have your moment. Brother, you’re having it right now and you deserve it.”
