WORCESTER – St. Mary’s Schools in Worcester will re-open on Tuesday.
As ThisWeekinWorcester.com reported on Sunday night, the school was closed on Monday to be thoroughly cleaned after school administration discovered a family member of a school staff member has been exposed to someone who has tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to the Worcester Diocese, school administration conferred with the City of Worcester Division of Public Health and notified families and staff that the “…decision to close and clean satisfies and exceeds current government recommendations regarding COVID-19.”
St. Mary’s reiterated that they were only closed on Monday “…in an abundance of caution.”
The staff member will remain in self-quarantine.
In a statement released to faculty and staff members, St. Mary’s said, “This exposure occurred seven days ago at an out-of-state conference. Neither the family member, nor the St. Mary’s staff member are experiencing symptoms at this time.”
